Some of you may remember a certain little diddy by a man called Mac Dre and it was titled “Thizzle Dance”. Well…the man behind the track on the production side was Portland Oregon’s own Syko. Syko has been on the Bay area and Northwest Hip-hop scenes for years and has major ties to the bay music scene.
To keep up on what’s good with Syk and to hear his latest slap’s, check out his myspace at www.myspace.com/syko12 and check out the website at www.themanbehindthepill.com.
Me an Syko chopped it up to let y’all know what the latest is with the man…here it go!
Syko: Aight what’s up wid it?
Nick: Man…just tryin’ to see what’s been going on with you latley. Give me the scoop on the latest in Syko’s world.
Syko: Ah man…the latest? Were just gearing up for this whole promotional shit for the summer man. Taking over the town with this S.O.S, the summer of Syk. Were droppin’ an album every month of the summer. June, July, August. In June we got The Movement gone drop. You know that’s a double CD. All my artist’s with this Syko production. I’m probly featured like 2 or 3 times on the whole Shit!
Nick: Wow!
Syko: And then we got um…In July we got (The man) Behind the Pill finally!
Nick: We been waiting for that one.
Syko: Yeah, the double CD. It’s way different from that Internet shit. It’s got 16 new songs ya feel me? So it’s just like a whole big ass stockpile with some new shit. And then to end it off we got the Taliban which is my group. They got they album comin’ in August called Taliban Action. We got a video that’s gone be hittin’ youtube and I’mma have all the albums for download on iTunes so you can just buy the tracks you want…all that! I’m just…I’m really gearing all this shit for internet ya know what I mean? Because it’s the best way for a mothafucker to get his shit off. Plus I got a gang of fans on the net, and on the street… Other than that man I just been producin’ my as of man. From LA to Colorado to Virginia man, all over the damn place.
Nick: So I was reading online about a possibility of you hooking up with THIZZ ent. for one of your projects coming up. Anything come of that yet.
Syko: I’m not gonna say for sure. I mean aint nothing really materialized accept for the fact that me and Dunna is doin’ a album you know what I’m sayin’? But they was gonna fuck with my album. I had a little time within myself to really think is that the best move for me and my label imprint and what I’m tryin’ to do myself so, I really don’t think, like, at this time I’m gone say %85 don’t look for it to be on THIZZ Entrtainment. Look for the solo SYKO album to be on Makin’ the Grade Entertainment and I’m looking through a gang of companies right now tryin’ to get my straight. I hollered at Select-O-Hits, I done hollered at Koch, I done hollered at a lot of mu’ fuckas’ man so It’s gone get that distribution it’s just really who I want to fuck with.
Nick: It’ll get it! If they do there homework they’ll see theres a lot of people waiting to hear it!
Syko: Plus I got my guy Bootz up at 95 like really pushin’ for me and fuckin’ with me and making sure I get spin and making sure I’m getting the kind of
exposure I need now. I think everything is gone catch on like really really really big this summer.
Nick: So, youtube video? You guys are shooting a video.
Syko: Yeah, we already shot a video for “Drop, Rock and Roll. That’ll probly be on youtube at the end of this month. Basically it’s a two in one video. Then sometime next month in May were gone wrap up this Taliban. Oh yeah I got the Taliban, American Taliban mixtape comin’ in May. So it’s really like we takin’ over the whole summer. We got May, June, July, August.
Nick: Damn! I guess!
Syko: I’m not really givin’ nobody else the oppertunity. I mean people gone try but everybody been waiting for this Syk shit for the longest. So now I’m just gone overdose em’ on shit. Like…alright, you don’t like this album then go get this one. You don’t like that one, go get this one. You like all of em’, buy all the mothafuckas’.
Nick: Buy em’ all right?
Syko: Yeah, cause all together it’s really six CD’s cause the first two, The Movement and The Man Behind the Pill are double CD’s! And then the Taliban is the only single album that’s gone have about like 16 slaps on there so.
Nick: Are we looking at a fat list of features or is it a lot of Syk?
Syko: It aint really…the most features you gone get is on my album! I got Luni on there, I got Dubee on there, and I got Dunna, and everybody within the camp. But I tried to stray away from getting a gang of features on there. I’m tryin’ to wrap it up with this song with Fab that sampled that old ass car song “Who’s gonna drive you home tonight”. So I’m thinkin’ about throwin’ Fabby on there. I got a pretty good relationship with all them cats. That’s probly the last little element I’m gone add to the album. But the Taliban, they don’t got no features, the Movement, the only features that’s on there is everybody out my click and then Dubee made a guest appearance on there and then that’s pretty much it.
Nick: Cool man! Keepin’ it SYKO, I like that.
Syko: I’m tryin’ to let people know that it’s okay to be yourself, you don’t need everybody else to sell your reacord.
Nick: Right! Right!
Syko: Then it aint really an individual anyways. People look at me as my own entity so I gotta give people me, I can’t give people me with Snoop Dogg, and me with Mack 10 every album, or Too Short…you know what I’m sayin’? People get sick of that shit so…
Nick: Right! Absolutely! So…production. You been producing! Are we gonna see a lot of Syko production on there too?
Syko: Ah yeah man. I’m hadling everything accept uh, accept for maybe 2 or 3 tracks out of like 80 songs man so you gone hear a whole lot of that Syk sound from a lil bit ago and you gone hear that new shit and then I’m workin’ on that me and Dunna album. Me and Nonstop are probly gone split the production down the middle and we gone start workin’ on our album in like the ass end of August. We already got like 5 or 6 songs done. Now that he down in Atlanta he hookin’ up with a gang of major mu’fuckas. He got a couple deals on the tablke with Geffen and some other mu’fuckas for our project. It’s as a production team also so not only just artist’s, we gone be producing for a lot of other people so.
Nick: So your going to be showcasing your skills not only as an MC but production wise as well.
Syko: Exactly!
Nick: Especially this summer. That’s a lot of tracks man!
Syko: Man, I’m tellin’ you bro. It’s compiled with, I’m gone say the ass end of 2006 to now. It’s a whole lot of shit that I aint been able to put out that’s why I been just givin’ away like here go the mixtape, here got the Internet version of my album cause people been waiting and waiting and waiting and I gotta give mu’fuckas what they want.
Nick: We’ll Syko…I appreciate the time fam.

Kenny Mack…the new face of the west!
In case you didn’t know, Kenny Mack has been holding up his part of the Northwest on the Hip-hop scene for a minute now and has big plans to take over the entire industry. With the wit and style of a true Northwest MC, Kenny has never failed to deliver top shelf spit!
Kenny just dropped a new single called “Make it clap” feat. Snoop Dogg and has leaked a sick track on his myspace off his upcoming album called “Face in my lap”! Plus he’s got a mixtape, and a DVD in the cooker right now too. Somehow while doing his thing on the music tip, he also finds time to give back to the city he reps…Portland Oregon. Home of the 503 area code and my own fellow Oregonians. I got at Kenny to see what the buzz was about. Check out what Kenny had to say!
Nick:
Whattup wit it Kenny?
Kenny Mack:
Yeah, yeah…what up wit it man. It’s your friendly neighborhood Kenny Mack. West coast bad boy. What’s good wit it west coast?
Nick:
Man, I know you got some things poppin’. You been real gung ho lately man, ready to go, ready to take over the whole joint. Let me know what’s comin’ up. What’s crackin’ with you?
Kenny Mack:
Yeah you know, defiantly. Man I been holdin’ down this west coast sh*t. I’m one of the faces of the new west coast and basically what it is is I got a new album comin’ out. It’s a mix album. It’s called “The Bizznezz”. It’s featuring me and my people 6ix. It’s comin’ out on the 25th of this month. Also I got Kenny Mack “The streets aint safe” album and DVD. It’s gonna be coming out in the next couple months featuring Mac Dre, Keak da Sneak, Cool Nutz, and basically a whole lot of me. Basically I’m just holdin’ down my scene you know…the 503…the 503 star general. I got this clothing line too. It’s called ” Product of my environment”. It’s a custom clothing line, urban, all custom stuff you know what I’m sayin’? Dudes, chicks, kids, whatever. You can check it out on my myspace at www.myspace.com/mshrecords, or just google ya boy Kenny Mack. That’s what it is right now.
Nick:
As far as the future. I know you got the mix comin’ out, the record and DVD, the clothing line. Any other big plans?
Kenny Mack:
Right now I’m doing this clothing drive in our city out here in Portland where I’m gonna clothe 100 families. It’s called the First annual Good Look clothing drive. Basically I’m just giving back cause years ago whatever I was doin’ in these streets and taking, taking, taking…wanting everybody to buy my CD’s, you know all the people that been supporting the Kenny Mack Nation, Planet Kenny Mack, I gotta give back. I gotta give something to the people that I want from and also um…at the same time I didn’t have anything when I was comin’ up which made me have to hustle and grind and make it happen. A lot of times that puts us in positions where we can’t actually concentrate on school and doin’ the right things. Music, school, employment, know what I’m sayin’. A lot of us have kids, were young, we got kids, so we need to concentrate on that type of sh*t ya know what I’m sayin’?
Nick:
Where can we get into that?
Kenny Mack:
Actually, by the time this comes out, it might be over actually, but it’s going on right now and it’s to the 25th and you can drop it off. We got a lot of sponsors like Toyota, the radio station out here 95.5, Jordan, Scion…we got a lot of people helpin’ out man. They kinda seeing to that we spendin’ money with them and they gotta give back to the streets cause we walkin’ around with they shoes on.
Nick:
Get at Kenny’s myspace to keep up on what he’s got going on and drop him some love and be sure and check out his weekly video blog!

The Strange Music label (Tech N9ne) is gearing up to release some major solo projects from a bunch of the labels top hit makers. The most anticipated of these albums is Tech’s label mate and long time touring partner Kutt Calhoun. Kutt has been on tour with Tech for years now and has a swagger and a style that attracts people to him and his music.
Feature Presentation, his sophomore album will drop this fall on Sept 16th and will feature new cover art than the artwork currently out there. I had a chance to chop it up with my guy Kutt for a minute and find out what’s good with this new project and pick his brain for as much info as I could without giving away any secret info. Heres how it went down!
NLR: Kutt Calhoun…what’s good pimpin’?
Kutt: What’s good man? I’m just out here on this Fire and Ice tour man. We just got to L.A. a couple of hours ago, got this show out here so we plan on bringin’ down the house tonight.
NLR: So..you got a new project coming out…Feature Presentation.
Kutt: Ah man…Feature Presentation man, long awaited man. It’s gonna be a four year hiatus man when August hits man. My first album dropped in August of 04 so it’s gonna be my sophomore release but I’m gonna treat it like it’s still my first release man cause it’s been so long. The music, the style, and the content is so much better man. It’s finna shock a lot of people man. I feel like it’s gonna be one of them albums man to get me over that hump that I need to be over to be on the grind and sell all across the U.S know what I mean?
NLR: So do you have a solid release date for this yet?
KUTT: Yeah…we defiantly got a solid release date man. The release date is set for Sept. the 16th and I don’t see that changing. We got other releases on the label, Kalico on May 6th, that’s set in stone. Tech’s is July first, that’s set in stone. Scatterman and Snug Brim is Aug. 5th, that’s set in stone. I don’t see it changing.
NLR: I heard talk of a video shoot for this album. What’s the single and when can we look for that?
KUTT: Right now that Party Rock is f**kin’ the shows up. Everybody is feelin’ it man, every time I do that song so…Party Rock is a definite single man. In the clubs and on the radio…either way you want to go. That’s video and all the above man.
NLR: So how do you juggle making the album and being on tour because I know you guy’s are on tour like beasts. I heard that you walk in the studio and just drop it…no playin’ around.
KUTT: Man it’s all work and no play when it come to that man but uh…we been doin’ it for so long it’s like…we tour extensively so whenever we get off time or whenever we get home for that little month, aside from having to take care of your bills, and take care of your loved ones, your family, whatever type of needs you need to take care of when you get home…we in the studio. It’s like we been doing it for so many years man so It’s like it’s nothin’. It’s like this is our job and part of a job is sacrificing man so if we only get like 2 weeks off when we get off of tour, aside from whatever you need to do…you got to squeeze that in but you also got to take care of work and work comes first man. This work is our bread and butter so any little chance we get man we right back in the studio so…is it hard to juggle… it used to be in the beginning man but you get adapted to it. This is how you gonna feed your kids and your family you know, and take care of yourself so it comes first man. It aint even no juggling involved, it’s first priority.
NLR: Now that your getting some shine on your own, how you been feeling lately now that theres a shine on you as your own artist?
KUTT: I’m feeling real good about it man. I been feeling good for the last couple of years man and I’m gonna put it like this man…of coarse a lot of people were iggnorant to who I was myself you know what I’m sayin’…Kutt Calhoun. A lot of people know me from being on stage with Tech. But at the same time, you know, we did that hostile takeover tour and I did have my own set along with Scatter and Snug. It’s like..I don’t think that anybody ever thought from the beginning that I’m just some hype man cause I always had either one or two songs that I did solo or maybe those two songs and a song I did with Tech so I never was just a hype man and I don’t think people thought that I just was a hype man. Now for people who probly didn’t know who Tech N9ne was, people might have thought ok, that guy is up there so he’s Tech’s hype man probly. But then they see me get down and it’s gonna change they minds. I got an album for sale over at the mech so you gonna see me up there on that stage but then you gonna go to the merch to buy a Tech N9ne album and you gone look down and you gone see Kutt Calhoun right next to it and be like let’s check this ni**a out…I done seen this ni**a do his thing up there. So I don’t think I was in the shadow, but you know what, it defiantly feels better man to have this second release coming out after so long man cause you know of coarse we use Tech as a stepping stone. He’s a stepping stone. He’s a motivator and an innovator for all of us so of coarse we use his name to boost our self up as well as get his name out there for our self man. So yeah .. it’s feelin’ real good that I’m comin’ out with my sophmore release man. Extensive touring man and sh*t’s getting better, we bout to do videos man. I’m getting more of a solo focus from everybody so that defiantly feels a lot better man.
NLR: So for the people who don’t know. How can we set your music aside from what we heard on the last album and what we heard on tour with Tech. How would you set this record aside and explain the sound and the concept behind this record? Cause I hear theres a concept behind it.
KUTT: Right…the concept behind this whole album here, Feature Presentation man, I’m thinkin’ it’s gonna be something like you aint never seen man. I’m into the storytelling’ rappin’. Like making a point out of a lot of content and having something to actually talk about. Like I want you to be able to close your eyes and just listen to my words man. You can picture everything I’m sayin’. I’m a storyteller rapper like the Tupac’s and the Scarfaces and the Ice Cubes of the game man you know what I’m sayin’? The Big L’s and the Eminem’s. I like to tell stories man and Feature Presentation…what it is…the whole theme of Feature Presentation man is like we go to the movies and the Feature Presentation is the main thins you see, well, this album Feature Presentation, I want everybody to know, this is the focal point. This is the main thing that your about to hear and the theme of my album is…since it’s Feature Presentation…like %90.98.9 of my album titles is gonna be movie titles man. Good classic movies that everybody would be able to look back on and remember those movies. I’m not actually going to be talking about the same things that was going on with the movie I’m just using that movie title on my album.
NLR: Now let’s touch on The Bay. I know you guys got a lot of fans out here and ties out here.
KUTT: Ah man it’a all love to the bay man. We got connections with the bay of coarse through Tech N9ne with the Regime, we cool with 40, that’s our dude, and everybody with his camp, RJ, we cool with Yuk, T-nutty want to get me on a project with them called “Second and third letter” with Messy Marv, and T-Nutty…they want me on there! Then uh, “Juiced” they want me on Bully’s wit Fully’s 2. I made some connections with them n*ggas man and they some solid n*ggas man. Much love to them. They got love from this midwest dude from Kansas city who got love from Mac Dre and everybody in the bay you feel me? Much love from KC to the Bay…that’s gonna be an album one day. KC to the Bay. We’ll all hook up together and blow some sh*t out the water mayne.
NLR: That’s love homie! Much appreciated Kutt and that’s a wrap!

I’m pretty sure most of us can say that there have been a few albums over the years that we played out to the point of melting whatever media they were recorded on, and loved every minute of it! For me a few of those albums stand out at the top of my mind. Dr. Dre “The Chronic”, Snoop’s “Doggystyle”, and Tupac’s…well…all of them! But another classic album comes to mind called “18 Wit a Bullet” from the label Black and Brown (now Thizz Latin). So when I had a chance to chop it up with the boss-man Goldtoes, I jumped at the opportunity to see what’s poppin’ with him these days.
“I’m just getting my album together called Goldtoes “The Gold Rush” and make sure everything is on point ya feel me? Plus I got the Treal TV Thizz Latin DVD out too. It dropped in June. My boy Carl took his time and really put the sh*t together right. Right now were just waiting for Jimmy Roses to come out with his new album and were workin on this album called Thizz up-Down South were I got a bunch of artists from Texas and were just gonna start hittin’ the South up now. Basically right now with Thizz Latin, everybody just got one album deals. I’m tryin’ to see who’s gonna stick to the walls. The hottest thing that all of our artist’s put out was Jimmy Roses and basically that’s who the people grabbed on to. The one I see with big potential is Jimmy so were workin’ on his second album. Basically I just decided to put out my own album after eleven years of putting out rappers. Basically just treat myself to my own album. I had a lot of fun doin’ it. All my ghost writers, you know, like San Quinn…every song I did I had a ghost writer writing my rap’s. I would like to think of myself as a reciter not a rapper. I think I’m gonna turn over a new leaf now that I’m rappin’ and it sounds really good. I mean I just came out with my album and I already got two songs on the radio. What more can I ask for? That’s more than I had with any other albums I put out in my life. I got a song with Baby Bash called “Thick N Juicy” right now that their playin’. I got that one song “Blow it” with Beeda Weeda, The Hoodstars, B-Legit, Burna, and Doonie of The Federation man and he laced the hook hella tight! I just got off to a good start with my reciting career! Plus, right now I’m tryin’ to get into the movie business. I’m tryin to put the movie “17 Reasons” together. Actually it’s gonna be a movie but it’s going to follow into a series…and I’m writing a book also!
It’s obvious that Goldtoes is still heavy on his grind after all these years and shows no signs of slowing down. To keep up on what’s good with Thizz Latin, Goldtoes, and Jimmy Roses, hit them at the myspace at www.myspace.com/blacknbrown and hit him up and show some love! Goldtoes message to the fans: “Support your Bay area rap so we can take this to another plateau. It’s a struggle out here in the Bay…Stay positive and keep movin forward!”

Hello buddies! Quick…name as many big name rappers in America, of Indian descent (not Native American) as you can. Having a hard time? I bet you are! Well I have a name for you…Haji Springer!
In the midst of the flambostant whirlwind that is the Hyphy movement, we have seen some hilarious and outlandish scenes and Haji is no exception. Haji, born in 1981 in Oakland Ca, has been rapping since he was a teenager and is starting to get his shine on. Haji has been making moves on the Bay area rap scene for a minute now and shows no signs of slowing down. Having collaborated with names like Mac Dre, Keak da Sneak, Mr. F.A.B, San Quinn, Turf Talk, Yukmouth, B-Legit, J-Diggs and more, he’s most definitely on the right track. His comedic style and hilarious swagger give him a persona all his own, rapping like a normal street cat to rapping with an Indian accent. It’s hilarious!
“A lot of people call me an Indian version of Eminem or Chingo Bling or a Punjabi MC or something like that. I just got so many styles right now it’s crazy. My head is getting big. The way I came up with Haji Springer was…you remember Johnny Quest? Remember Haji from Johnny Quest? Well one day I took a picture and somebody had called me Haji cause I look like Haji. Plus I used to watch Jerry Springer every morning, so I came up with this Haji Springer sh*t. I put it together and did a couple albums and some mixtapes and from there it just took off man.”
Haji is now a part of the Thizz Nation and has been doing shows all over. Haji also has been selected for Jam of the week on MTV. His latest album “Hello Buddy” has a DVD included with never before seen footage from Mac Dre, Keak da Sneak, and various other artists.“I got another project coming out under Fontana. It’s gonna be a bigger project cause it’s independent distribution. That project is coming out in the first quarter 2008. Actually it’s gonna be real big. I got Yukmouth on there, I got Baby Bash on there, I got Big Rich on there, Mr. F.A.B is on there, my boy Keak da Sneak is on there. You know…a couple artists from the bay, you know? I’m not putting too many features on this album like my first album cause when you come in with your first album you always want to show that you can get down with the best. So I didn’t put too many features on this album man, you know, let em’ hear more of me.”
To keep up with what’s cracking in Haji’s world you can hit up www.hajispringer.com. Check out the new video, cop the ringtones, or just get a taste of Haji! You can hit him up at his myspace page as well at www.myspace.com/hajispringer.
Don’t tell anyone I said this, but, you may want to look out for Haji on a major television network with his own reality TV show soon! I can tell you that the network it will air on is super major and that’s about ALL I can tell you. But you didn’t hear it from me first!

Destro and Slowe Burna
When I heard the new album “Rap Music” from artist’s Destro and Slowe Burna of Oakland and was a little shocked at what I heard…being that it didn’t sound like today’s Bay rap.
With an L.A influenced sound and an old school gangsta rap appeal, Destro and Slowe Burna are a refreshing break from the popular Bay rap sound. It’s heat!
“We been getting a lot of love. It’s a lot of fans that appreciate what we doin’ cause we keep that mobb music going in the midst of this Hyphy movement. You know it’s a lot of my peoples doin’ that (hyphy music) and we love them cat’s but we keep that mobb music goin’ and cat’s appreciate that.”(Slowe) We been getting a lot of love from people with the same reaction you had…it’s refreshing.”
The track with B-Legit is a banger and was an instant classic to me! It’s the kind of track I think of when I think of West Coast rap…well…the kind I listen to. Destro and Slowe Burna bring us proof that Cali still has that style a lot of us miss.
“That’s why we worked with a lot of old school Bay area legends on this album cause that’s the era we grew up on. That’s what we want the Bay to be known for…spittin’ that game. I mean, we been workin’ with a lot of local independent cats and getting on other people albums right now. Shows, every day we city to city pushin’ this album. Over-seas is really showin’ us love. It’s gone as far as Germany and Japan. We independent black owned out here. It’s time to eat and get it how we live on this side. We definitely getting overlooked cause we aint getting that radio play you know? (Slowe) We do feel like we getting slept on but it’s no bitterness you know? All the good sh*t get caught up late anyway. As long as we stay makin’ that quality sh*t and stay doin’ us…that’s the main thing. We didn’t switch up when the Bay switched up, we stayed doin’ what we did. That’s what separates us. That’s why we are who we are.”

Now I don’t know about you, but in my house on Sunday mornings the TV channel is flipping between football and my other Sunday fave, NASCAR! Now even though NASCAR is not what you think of when I say “hit rap song”, Kafani’s track “Fast like a Nascar” is the perfect track to change all that! Just in case you were wondering what ever happened to the cat who made that Nascar song, Kafani is on his grind to bring you some new tracks and take his music to the masses on another level.
” I just been workin’ these new records I got goin’ on. I got these songs called “Like OO” and “Cutie Pie”! I just been tryin’ to work em’ and get em’ off the ground. Tryin’ to get up there man, tryin’ to still grind, tryin’ to have the same success I had with the “Fast like a NASCAR” record.
I can tell you that I kick it with a lot of cat’s in the hip-hop culture and NASCAR is most definitely not the sport of choice on the streets. Kafani broke it down to my as to why the theme for his most successful record to date!
“It wasn’t really themed after NASCAR. The whole concept of the song was like the Hyphy movement goes fast. We had started a new little slang man. Everybody says fast, but we said it with a little slang like FAYAST! In the hood it was on a level like I need my money fayast, I’m finna break this hoe fayast, or anything that’s comin’ fast so we started sayin’ that and then it was like fayast like a NASCAR cause obviously a NASCAR is fast. That’s where the whole terminology came from. It could have been fast like a leer jet or whatever. NASCAR sounded better!
Now Kafani hasn’t limited himself to one hustle. So, to make his paper, he has branched into an industry that many of you guys have dream’t about for years…porn! Yes porn!
“You know I been workin’ on this little porn situation right now man. Got some little porn Hip-hop goin’ on right now called “Fast like a ass star”. I’m bout to host that, but that’s just on some other sh*t. But mainly man, I’m just focused on my music man. Stayin’ in the studio and just tryin’ to come with “That one” man. I mean, I had regional success and it was real big on the west coast but I’m trying to get that one record right now that’s gone stick, bouncin’ across the nation. I been just really workin’ on that. Tryin’ to build my fanbase and get that nationwide success you know? Plus I got a DVD out called “Bay Business” that got a lot of artists on there doin’ they things. It got some videos and sh*t like that. It’s cool…kinda funny too!”
Kafani is a smart cat and had some insight into the success, (or lack there of), of the hyphy movement and Bay area Hip-hop.
“Right now we got a lot of haters sayin’ that the hyphy movement is dead and this and that. I mean it isn’t really about the hyphy movement. It’s about us in the bay really uniting with each other and really tryin’ to support each other. It’s like everybody is just doin’ they own thing. I mean when you look at cat’s from Atlanta and all these other regions, they work together you know? They help each other come up! If you think about it, there should have been a hyphy tour. We aint never had no tour where all the artists came together and really showcased what the region was really doin’ you know? That’s part of the reason why “Fast like a NASCAR” didn’t blow up on the nation cause there was no other records out like it outside the west coast. So it was hard for it to get mixed with other records and that’s what made that record hard to actually go somewhere. Right now the movement is wide open. Cats just need to come together and make some music and go on the road and get out there. A lot of cat’s are satisfied with being a bay area celebrity but you got to be able to get beyond the bay area, beyond California. We got to be out there. I think cat’s just need to take it back to the grass roots out the trunk.”
You can get at Kafani to holla at him or just to keep up with what he’s got going on by hitting his myspace at www.myspace.com/kafani1. Don’t sleep on this cat cause he’s driven and hasn’t disappointed us yet! Do ya thing Kafani!
