AR – “Don’t Take my Shine” music video from In Yo FACE Filmworks on Vimeo.
Arthur aka AR is the founder of Hayward, California’s Life Goes on Foundation, 501 (c) 3. Life Goes on Foundation (LGO) is a non political / non-profit organization working in the California to help bring an end to gun violence amongst youth and to find funding for a cure for paralyzing spinal cord injuries.
He began LGO in 2007 when he was 20. That year, he was tragically shot at a San Francisco night club by an unknown assailant, leaving me paralyzed from the chest down. He rose from a coma and months of rehabilitation with a desire to raise awareness of the consequences involved with gun violence amongst youth and to work to find a cure for paralyzing spinal cord injuries.
Now AR spends his life sharing his story at Boys and Girls Clubs, juvenile halls, rehabilitation centers and high schools so it can act as an avenue for change in the minds of youngsters and embrace constructive forms of self expression rather than picking up a gun.
The song/video is designed to promote peace and show kids there lives are more valuable when practicing peace rather than violence. Damon Jamal directed the video. As you may know he is well known for working with artists such as bay area rap legend San Quinn. It is also has an exiting imagery, danceable beats and very heart warming song as it guides the audience through a young man’s decision to resist a violent retaliation attempt for a peaceful alternative.
