Heart of the City Press Release:
Fresh back from E-40’s highly successful “Wake it Up Tour” Big Rich is set to release his sophomore album Heart of the City. After releasing the critically acclaimed album Block Tested Hood Approved on Street Cred/Koch Records in 2006 and the ground breaking SF Anthem in 2008 Big Rich is proving that he is here to stay. Though both of his previous releases reached nationwide attention with MTV & BET airplay Big Rich insists he is not satisfied. Still hungry for more Heart of the City is Big Rich’s best work to date. The official lead single “Ballin” produced by Auttomatik is currently in heavy rotation in the streets and catching a large amount of attention from radio stations throughout the entire west coast. Other tracks on the album like “Pushin,” were produced by D-Animals and “Fly Gangstas” by M.A., shows Big Rich’s growth as a nationwide artist, whose music has reached new heights. Along with his heavy bass street anthems “I’m Back,” “Wassup” featuring Glasses Malone & “Summertime” featuring Tha Jacka all produced by D-Animals, Big Rich continues to deliver his trademark sound.
After 2 plus, years since the release of Block Tested Hood Approved Big Rich remained relevant in the Bay Area Hip Hop scene with several street albums, countless guest appearances & staying in rotation on MTV. Never backing down from a challenge Big Rich is prepared to survive through our country’s and the music industry’s current recession by adapting and adjusting to the times. Heart of the City will be a fully independent album released his own label 3 Story Muzik/Street Cred Music Group. Guest Appearances include Glasses Malone, Tha Jacka, Dem Hoodstars, 3 Story Gang & more. Along with production by 3 Story’s own in-house producer D-Animals, Automattik and M.A, also contributed tracks to the album as well.

One

It’s no secret that one of our favorite artists here at TheBayMusic is the bay area bully “Ya Boy”. With Ya Boy, its not a question of whether or not he will blow up and be the biggest rapper on the West Coast, the only question is when.
In my personal opinion, damn near everything he puts out is crack. From “Future of the Franchise” to “Bay Area Bully” Ya Boy stays relevant and keeps dropping just enough music to keep us itching for more. Some of you are going to lash out at me, and may claim I’m dick riding, but know this; Ya Boy is one of the inspirations for starting this site in 2006. We began development in 2005 after being handed “Future of the Franchise” by a member of Done Deal at a club in Sacramento.
So understand when you visit TheBayMusic, we love us some YB music. I can’t judge any move hes made, but I’m sure he can explain all of them. From ghost writing for K-Fed to working with Black Wallstreet and being close to an offer from The Game, Ya Boy has done alot, and he hasnt been scared of what any mufucka thinks. Some are going to call him a sell out, but don’t we need someone on the west who will do what it takes, and not be concerned with peoples opinions? After all Opinions are like assholes, and we all know everyone has one. If he can keep dropping mixtapes and having them “Go Gold” I for one think he will continue to do so, but I hope that the right people will get behind him on an Album and give us a 20+ track album that can bring the west back the shine of “Dr Dre Chronic 2001″ (Still my all time favorite CD).
We’ve been meaning to bring you artist spotlights, and here it is, who better, and what music better to bring to you other than the Beast, the Bully, Ya Boy. In this post, you will find his entire Discography playable on thebaymusic!
Enjoy and leave some mufuckin love! Digg this shit, blog this shit, but remember who’s going out of their way to bring it to you, TBM you BEEEZY!

The Biography:
Consistently maintaining intact his self-assured and cocky attitude, West Coast gangsta rapper Ya Boy quickly made the right connections in the industry as a developing MC in the Bay Area’s independent rap scene. As a youth coming up in San Francisco’s Fillmore District, a neighborhood known more for its violent crime than its jazz heritage, Ya Boy (born William Crawford) caught the hip-hop bug early on because of Bay Area mainstays San Quinn and Messy Marv, who are his first cousins. The local buzz surrounding the eager rapper began with the song “16’s with Me,” which sampled the Darth Vader theme, “The Imperial March,” from Star Wars. He continued to release many mixtapes and local singles with the support of cousin San Quinn’s independent label, Done Deal Entertainment. On his 2005 debut album, Rookie of the Year, he gathered Bay Area rap luminaries, like E-40 and producer Rick Rock, to cement his status as a noteworthy newcomer. Also around this time, the Bay’s more club-oriented hyphy movement started to bubble over into the national mainstream, but Ya Boy didn’t follow the trend, still brandishing his style of gangsta rap. In 2006, he amicably left his cousin’s label to pursue opportunities with his uncle, who was an executive at Compton rapper the Game’s Black Wall Street imprint. His affiliation to the Game allowed him to work with top industry producers and lead to greater exposure outside of the Bay Area locale as shown by his feature in The Source magazine’s “Unsigned Hype” column.
